Does Gluquestrian really work?
Yes – it's the ONLY product on the market with a Results Based Guarantee! You will be able to SEE or feel the difference (when you are riding). Horses that have trouble with change ups, or favor one leg over another, that limp or have lameness issues will start moving more freely and easier within a few weeks.

Gluquestrian is as good as and usually better than any other oral supplement on the market! We put our money where our mouth is in quality and our guarantee! (MD's Choice's unique Results Based Guarantee is good for a maximum of three 1,000g containers. See below on how long a container lasts.)

How long has this product been on the market?
MD's Choice started with their joint supplements and Complete Formulas in 1996.

How is it administered?
Top dressed – over the feed. It can be mixed with sweet feed, oats, corn syrup, molasses, or a wide variety of other common feeds or treats. MD's Choice's product is so concentrated and pure that, with no smell or foul taste, most horses don't even know it's there. Each scoop is about the size of 6 – US dimes stacked up.

Will my horse eat Gluquestrian?
Yes. Gluquestrian is tasteless, virtually odorless, and concentrated with very small portions (a scoop is about the size of 6 dimes stacked up). If you are concerned about your horse eating it, you can mist it with spray; mix it with molasses, sweet feed, or any substance you normally feed your horse or use as a treat. Remember, glucosamine (of any type) is not stable in liquid past 24 hours – so it must be used the same day it's mixed up. And glucosamine doesn't like temperatures above 105 degrees (Fahrenheit).

Will it help my arthritic horse?
Yes – absolutely… guaranteed! You will see results within 4 to 8 weeks on the average arthritic horse. If you don't see results within 2 to 3 containers, you get your money back – for the entire product you purchased!

Will it help Spavin?
Yes, positively guaranteed! You will see results within 6 to 8 weeks on the average horse with spavin. If you don't see results within 2 to 3 containers, you get your money back for the product you purchased!

What is this Navicular Guarantee?
Gluquestrian is the only product on the market GUARANTEED to drastically help a horse with navicular syndrome or your money back! It has an 87% and higher success rate at returning a horse suffering from navicular syndrome to a sound condition and helping the rest experience reduced pain, improved flexibility and mobility. Results normally take 16 to 24 weeks at a double loading dose (a.k.a. treatment level). Please call MD's Choice for proper dosage.

How does it help horses with Navicular Syndrome?
It gets the joints healthy, and keeps them healthy faster than the disease can trash them. Also, understand that there are over 100 different things that are diagnosed as “Navicular Syndrome”. As long as there is an intact navicular bone and no bone spurs irritating the ligaments and tendons in that area, our product can return the horse to a sound condition! We have experienced more than an 87% success rate, and our product is guaranteed 100% of the time!

Does it interfere with any other therapy or treatment?
No, our products do not interfere with any other therapy or treatment processes.

What is it?
Pure, quality nutrition, and in a form the body can readily use and benefit from. The ingredients used in Gluquestrian are naturally found within a healthy body. We are merely changing the levels in a healthy form and safe method for a period of time. With each individual, the time is different. Daily prolonged use is both safe and effective, but not always required for the young or moderately used bodies.

How does it work?
First it improves the quality of the synovial fluids, then it gives the body what it needs to strengthen the ligaments, tendons, and connective tissue. Lastly, it supplies the body the necessary nutrients required to build and maintain healthy cartilage. It offers Total Joint Health!

What about using cookies or treats?
Currently, all "cookies" and treats available on the market are created with either liquid or heat. It has been proven that Glucosamine (of any type) has a limited (27 hour) life once combined with any liquid (it begins a molecular break down). Furthermore, scientific tests have shown that moderate temperatures (starting at approximately 105° F) is also damaging to the molecular structure and effect use of any type of Glucosamine. If you are seeing any type of benefit from a cookie or treat, it's because of the HERBS (plant derived drugs) and offers your horse little or no actual healing benefit. Remember to responsibly define which type of "It Works" you are looking for: a) quick pain relief and masking symptoms, or b) healing, and reduction to elimination of pain because of healthier tissue.

What about using a liquid joint supplement?
It has been proven that Glucosamine (of any type) has a limited (as little as 27 hours for Glucosamine HCl) life once combined with any liquid (it begins a molecular break down). If you are seeing any type of benefit from a liquid joint supplement, it's because of the HERBS (plant derived drugs) are masking the symptoms, and offers your horse little or no actual healing benefit.

Why doesn't it smell?
Human grade ingredients – Pharmaceutical and High quality nutraceutical ingredients – found in joint supplements should not “stink” or smell badly. If they do, then there's a possibility that they have contaminants commonly found in the cheap or less purified animal grade products or ingredients “purified” in some foreign country we wouldn't want to drink the water in. Some companies persist in thinking that ingredients purchased in these third world countries so cheaply that, even with the international shipping costs, they save the company a lot of money, are always contaminant free. Understand that Chondroitin comes from bovine tracia, ground up chicken cartilage, shark cartilage, Perna muscle, etc. Glucosamine HCl is ground up crab shells, ground shrimp, muscles, etc. If they aren't purified or processed properly, they will stink! If they smell badly, you really need to ask yourself how safe they are and what other contaminants have been left that may harm the body.

Remember, aluminum is stored in the brain stem and has been linked to Alzheimer patients. Heavy metals are stored in the liver and kidneys for years until they lose function and life. Animal grade supplements do NOT require any testing past eColi and Salmonella. If you want longevity, why risk adding contaminates that shorten the life expectancy? At MD's Choice, every batch of the ingredients selected for our products are HUMAN GRADE and tested for 32 common contaminates (including aluminum, cadmium, barium, lead, mercury, and toxins).

I'm using Adequin injections on my horse. How will your product help?
Adequin acts as a loading dose with Gluquestrian. Remember, Gluquestrian is the daily supplementation of the basic building blocks, in forms the body can readily & safely use every day. Adequin is usually faster at getting the process started, but eventually you will see better results using Gluquestrian daily than Adequin monthly or randomly. Unless there is a fresh injury, most customers are able to completely cease Adequin injections within 3 to 6 months with the same or better results.

My vet is doing HA injections. How does your product affect them?
HA injections replenish the synovial fluids, but doesn't do anything with the ligaments, tendons, or cartilage. Gluquestrian helps improve the synovial fluids, but, more importantly, it strengthens the ligaments and tendons (and all other connective tissues) and supplies the body nutrients required to build new cartilage where required. In other words, they work well together, and potentially faster acting than either product by itself.

HA injections alone can only help a limited amount of problems. Note: most HA injections are done IJ (inter-joint – directly in the afflicted joint), rather than IM (inter-muscular) or IA (inter-articular – directly in the blood stream) because positive results are less likely IA, and nearly impossible IM. So, what about oral HA, then? Well, if it's known to be significantly less effective IM & IA, how can HA effectively get to the joint going through the digestive tract? Also, molecularly, it's larger than Chondroitin Sulphate (of which 70% ends up in the poop). So, how much oral HA do you think actually gets into the system?

Can I give my horse too much Glucosamine or MSM?
It you are using human grade ingredients – purified, with not other containments – no, you couldn't get your horse to eat enough to harm him. Understand that MSM has an anti-inflammatory effect after 10 grams (in the average horse). And too much glucosamine (of any variety) will pass through the system (sometimes causing diarrhea). As with anything being ingested, be reasonable and follow directions.

I'm using only MSM. Why should I use your joint supplements?
MSM by itself has limited healing ability. It's biologically active sulfur. If the rest of the nutrients required to make the joints healthy aren't in the diet, the added MSM (by itself) offers limited benefit. Furthermore, adding more MSM to Gluquestrian isn't bad or dangerous, but, unless there's an injury, serious problem (such as navicular syndrome, founder, or ring bone) there usually isn't any need to raise the levels already used in Gluquestrian.

Why isn't there any Chondroitin in your joint supplements?
Because 70% of the chondroitin even from the world's best chondroitin product (Cosequin) – which uses a proprietary patented process to reduce the molecular weight – passes through the system and ends up in the poop. If that much of the best chondroitin passes through the system, just imagine how much of the cheap products passes through.

Note: Manufacturers of products containing chondroitin often work overtime to “get results” by adding herbs or other masking agents. Remember, just because something is “all natural” to some plant, rock, or the earth does NOT make it “natural” or safe for the body! Gluquestrian is all natural TO THE BODY, and will work better and more effectively than any other oral joint supplement – guaranteed!

Why isn't there any Yucca in your joint supplements?
Because Yucca is a steroidal sapinon and is likely to cause damage with daily prolonged use. Further, it is an herb, which is a plant derived drug, and it is not natural to the body! No one knows how much or how long it takes to potentially cause problems within the body. And, it may act or react differently in each individual. We know that steroids are bad. The question is why take any chances with any body you want to have in optimum health for numerous years?

My vet told me to use Isoxiprien. How will it affect your product or vise versa?
Isoxipren is the only NSAID that actually increases the blood flow. As a vascular dilator, if the nutrients required to heal the effected area don't exist in the diet or supplementation, then healing and improvement cannot occur. Isoxiprien has about a 50% failure rate, with no refund if it doesn't work. How lucky do you feel?

Can it get the nutrients in our product to the affected area faster? Yes, probably. Because it's a vascular dilator, it will increase blood flow, therefore, allowing more nutrients that can make it to the blood stream travel to the areas of increased flow.

Will it make Gluquestrian work faster or better? Not necessarily. Because of its composition as an NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug), it can block or inhibit the body's ability to use sulphur, which is vital to healthy joint tissue.

In conclusion, we've had customers (both veterinarians and end-users) report faster results on a navicular syndrome horse using both Gluquestrian and Isoxiprien. There is no scientific evidence to support faster results. Our guarantee exists through three 1,000g containers, whether you use this drug also or not.

Will it help ring bone?
Yes, with better than 50% success. Understand, it takes 18 to 24 months for the body to lay down a new layer of cartilage, and actual results (that can be viewed on an x-ray) can easily take a couple of years, although significant improvement will usually begin in a few months. That is just the beginning of the healing process the body is going through. The entire treatment period for this particular condition is only guaranteed through a veterinarian, who is able to regularly and properly evaluate the horse and its continued care, treatment and progress.

How do these products compare to Gluquestrian™?

Cosequin
If you feel you must use chondroitin sulphate, this company has the best in the industry, bar none. They have a special patent on a process that causes the chondroitin sulphate in their finished product to be at least 75% smaller (molecularly) than everyone else's chondroitin sulphate. However, though they do have the best chondroitin, up to 70% of it still ends up in the manure! This IS the best Chondroitin/Glucosamine HCl product on the market, but we at MD's Choice believe that our Gluquestrian is better, and our Results Based Guarantee is a safe way for you to prove or disprove it!

Cosequin also uses Glucosamine HCl as its secondary ingredient, rather than Glucosamine Sulphate (the sulphated form is the primary ingredient of Gluquestrian). MD's Choice believes this is a vital issue because there are over 30 years of independent scientific research and double blind placebo crossover studies that have been done on Glucosamine SULPHATE that have proven it to be effective and successfully used by the body time and time again. Both the AMA and AVMA have also done independent studies on Glucosamine Sulphate that further proves it has the power and ability to be effectively used and to help the body's health. This doesn't mean that Nutramax's Cosequin is an ineffective product. We know it works, especially as a preventative and maintenance level product, in combination with other treatments (such as Adequin and HA injections) or as a post-surgery benefit. Furthermore, we believe that Nutramax cares about the purity and quality of their product just as much as MD's Choice does. We believe their product to be safe and without any negative side effects or contraindications (same as our Gluquestrian). However, we also believe it falls short (of Gluquestrian), as a stand-alone joint supplement on more serious joint related issues (such as Navicular Syndrome, Laminitis, Ring Bone, etc.).

The bottom line is that MD's Choice's Gluquestrian, when compared to similar strengths and bio-availability, has a lower daily cost in virtually every setting – professional (medical or veterinarian) or retail – than most quality joint supplements. In addition, MD's Choice's Results Based Guarantee is incredibly superior to the current 30-day money back guarantee that Cosequin and so many joint supplements have. If you want a product that really works, that uses human-grade, pharmaceutical ingredients, then you really only have a couple of choices: Nutramax's Cosequin with Chondroitin & Glucosamine HCl or MD's Choice's Gluquestrian with Glucosamine Sulphate and MSM. Both companies care about the customer and both care about the quality of their product, but only MD's Choice guarantees that you will see results, without drugs or herbs giving drug effect, or your money back!

Conquer
Kinetic Technologies has a patented process for the production of Oral HA, similar logic to Nutramax's patent for processing low-molecular weight Chondroitin Sulphate. Kinetic's HA claims that their HA is 90% smaller (molecularly) than anyone else's oral HA. Specifically, Kinetics is a maximum 250,000 daltons, versus every one else's oral HA, which is about 2,500,000 daltons minimum. However, you must understand that anything above 50,000 daltons can NOT make it into the blood stream, and anything above 25,000 daltons can't be used or absorbed by the joint tissue.

Based on what they say, we believe they probably have the best form of Oral HA on the market today. Reports show that oral HA may improve the synovial fluid within the joints and may reduce pain within a few days. However, there are few points vital to the understanding of this ingredient:

  • It does NOT affect the connective tissue (the ligaments or tendons) nor does it affect the cartilage. Therefore the benefits are limited.
  • It hasn't been shown to “fix” or repair anything.
  • A study done on oral HA showed that 95% of it was found in the feces within 72 hours. So there are definite absorption issues with oral HA.

With that said, we have customers that have used both Kinetic Technology's oral HA product AND MD's Choice's premium joint supplement both independently of each other and together. If they have minor joint issue, such as age related arthritis, then either product will likely produce some results, with MD's Choice's products offering “Total Joint Health” and better connective tissue and cartilage support. Those customers suffering from poor synovial fluid (and no tissue damage) have reported positive results using Conquer. People with minor problems have reported significant results on MD's Choice products within a few weeks. If it is a serious issue, such as an injury or spinal problem, some customers have reported they noticed a bigger difference using both products together. We believe that a small amount of oral HA in a dog or even a person could have an anti-inflammatory response, but if you increase the math to a horse's weight, the dose would have to be greatly larger than the double loading dose they suggest to accomplish similar results in a horse.

GLC 5500
One container guarantee. A glucosamine catch all (not focused – uses some of all types). No MSM, a lot of hype, without the guarantee of results or guaranteed consistency to effectively backup the product. As of Rolex 2003, the majority of the competitive endorsers of this product were either paid or given free product in exchange for their endorsements.

Cortaflex
One container guarantee. Glutamic acid is their primary active, which is a synaptic inhibitor (a pain blocker). This product produces little to no rebuilding of the joint area. It has been reported that some horses experience a significant attitude change. However, I would probably use this instead of bute as a painkiller for a limited period of time because it is probably easier on the digestive tract.

Vitaflex
A Farnum Company. Which product? They have TEN different joint supplements attempting to solve the same problems. They have a 30-day money back guarantee (1 container or less). The Glucosamine science they use in their marketing literature “The Truth About Glucosamine and Chondroitin Sulphate” refers to the sulphate form (in our product, not theirs). Their product uses Glucosamine HCl.

Fluid Flex
One container guarantee. Since it's a liquid, no glucosamine effect is possible (glucosamine begins to break down in liquids after 24 hours). Any results seen are anti-inflammatory and painkillers, via the herbal additives.

Flex Plus
Unconditional money back guarantee. It contains yucca (an herb, with drug activity), which is an effective painkiller and anti-inflammatory. However, Yucca is a Steroidal Sapinon, so, knowing as we do that steroids are harmful to the body, what are the chances that it could it cause long-term damage with daily prolonged use or overuse? Note: MD's Choice's human product is stronger than WF Young's equine product.

Grand Flex
One container guarantee. Contains Yucca and Bromaline (herbs). Yucca is a Steroidal Sapinon, so, knowing as we do that steroids are harmful to the body, what are the chances that it could it cause long term damage with daily prolonged use or overuse?

Select
One container guarantee. Contains Glucosamine HCl (see above) and Chondroitin Sulphate (see above).

Nimble
If your horse won't eat it, they'll refund your money. No guarantee of efficacy. Contains Yucca. Yucca is a Steroidal Sapinon, so, knowing as we do that steroids are harmful to the body, what are the chances that it could it cause long term damage with daily prolonged use or overuse?

How long will the container last?
Dosing depends on weight, age, severity, location, and continued use. On average, a 900 to 1,200 pound arthritic horse will go through one 1,000 gram container in 2 months for the first bottle, and one container every four months after that. More serious problems, such as Navicular Syndrome, founder, and ring bone, will likely require larger doses for a longer (treatment) period to get the joint tissue healthy and will later be returned to a lower (normal) dose to maintain health.

Is Gluquestrian expensive?
It's really not, if you do the math. First, our MSRP on the 1,000g container is $165… that's a $41.25 per month maintenance dose for a 900 to 1,200 pound horse with “normal” aging arthritic problems. At that dose, Gluquestrian has nearly twice as much product actually making it to the joint area (bioavailability) than most of the products at a similar price point. Furthermore, on the preventative level (one scoop per day for an adult horse) it costs about $20 per month!

Will I have to use this product for the rest of my horse's life?
Potentially, yes. It depends on why the horse was put on Gluquestrian to begin with. If it was because of an injury and the body is getting everything it needs through a broad spectrum balanced diet, then, no, your horse likely won't need to use the product for the rest of its life. However, most bodies that have joint (as well as hoof and digestive) problems get that way over time, because they weren't able to get what their body needed from their diet, and, therefore, require some supplementation to their normal diet.

Most bodies are able to work down to a preventative level dose within 1 to 3 years, which brings the average cost down to about $20 per month. Note: performance and competitive horses seldom drop below a maintenance dose during their training and competition. And a side effect of staying on the product is that healing of connective tissue occurs 25 to 50 faster and easier on those bodies that were already on the product (even at a preventative level) prior to the injury simply by increasing the dose to a treatment level during the healing period.

Why does it change color over time?
The human food grade incipient is designed to give up “its life” to protect the ingredients in the product from moisture, condensation, and heat. As it does its job, it will often begin turning a light brownish color, and may have a Carmel like smell. It doesn't mean the product is bad, it means that it was exposed to moisture and potentially heat. MD's Choice is willing to exchange product if you are uncomfortable continuing to use it. As with any quality nutritional supplement, excessive heat and moisture should be avoided.

My farrier doesn't think any supplement will help my horse. What should I do?
Does your farrier specialize in the treatment of severe problems? Is your farrier a nutritionist? Although the farrier touches the horse more often than the veterinarian in most cases, and having a good farrier can actually help almost all hoof and joint related problems (as a bad farrier can in turn cause problems), the body's diet and supplementation shouldn't be controlled by a farrier. Also consider, does your farrier know about Gluquestrian's guarantee? What do you have to lose? It can't hurt, and your farrier will likely be the second person to notice the results Gluquestrian has become famous for.

What is the average cost per day?
Based on the 1,000 gram container, which contains 240 level scoops, at $165 retail, and assuming you are feeding an average 900 to 1,200 pound horse, the cost is:
  • $ .69 per day - preventative dose
  • $1.38 per day - maintenance dose
  • $2.76 per day - therapy level dose (or treatment level, if you are already using Adequin or HA injections, not counting the cost of the injections or vet call)
  • $5.50 treatment level dose (with no other oral or injection treatment)
Understand that the average treatment period is usually between 4 and 24 weeks, depending on the problem, age, weight, severity, location, and continued use. Other treatment protocols need to also be taken into account. Each body varies.

MD's Choice's guarantee is for RESULTS, and it's for up to three 1,000g containers without further consultation by their staff! More may be possible with the FREE consultation of a trained MD's Choice staff.

Can I feed this to other animals?

Dog? Yes – ¼ scoop per 50 pounds of weight.
Pig? Yes – ½ scoop per 250 pounds of weight.
Cow? Yes – 2 scoops per 1,200 pounds.
Goat? Yes – ½ scoop per 75 pounds.
Cat? Yes – 1/8 scoop.

Note: With any body, the dose is best when divided into 2x per day (AM/PM). The dosage should be doubled for at least 1 to 3 months if there are serious joint related issues, the animal is very active, or if it is pregnant. Please call for free individual consultation.

Can I take this myself (is it safe for people)?
Yes, absolutely! It was originally designed from our human product (Arthrosamine), and we've purposefully maintained the same high quality human grade ingredients for both efficiency and because we know people use this product themselves. One level scoop equals four capsules. Approximately ¼ scoop per 75 pounds of body weight twice per day is an effective maintenance dose. Pending joint replacement surgery, spinal issues, or continued joint overuse require an additional ¼ scoop during the initial loading (treatment level) dose.

How do I know Gluquestrian is working?
You'll be able to see and feel the difference within a few weeks in most cases.
